Meeting of Eastern Church Leaders in the UK

On April 21st, Bishop Hovakim Manukyan attended a meeting of Eastern Church leaders in the United Kingdom, where, in a spirit of brotherly fellowship, they discussed the challenges facing the Churches today. The gathering also adopted a mission statement for their shared work and witness.

Vision Statement

To witness together to the Apostolic Faith of Christ as preserved in the Eastern Christian Traditions, fostering visible love, deeper understanding, and united service among our Churches that belong to the Eastern Christian Traditions.

Mission Statement

The Network of Orthodox and Eastern Churches in the United Kingdom & Ireland exists to:

  • Deepen fraternal relations amongst leaders of the Orthodox and Eastern Churches through regular dialogue, prayer, and encounter.

  • Strengthen mutual understanding of our theological, liturgical, and pastoral traditions, honouring both our shared heritage and our distinct ecclesial identities.

  • Discern opportunities for collaboration in pastoral care, youth ministry, education, charitable ministries, and public and vocational witness.

  • Respond together to contemporary challenges facing our faithful, especially in diaspora contexts, with wisdom drawn from the Fathers and the living Tradition of the Church.

  • Fostering consensus and offering a united voice in society—bearing witness to the Gospel of Christ.
