Sarah Stites Delivers Talk on Armenia’s First Tech College
St Sarkis Parish was delighted to welcome Sarah Stites, director of the Ayo! fundraising platform of Fund for Armenian Relief, for an insightful presentation on the Armenian Creative Technologies (ACT) College on August 16th, 2026. This tech college is the first of its kind in Armenia and aims to prepare young students for careers in computer science, engineering, and digital art with state-licensed courses.
The talk was followed by an extensive Q&A session with members of the community, discussions on the college’s development and expansion plans, and ways to get involved with or support the project. Several interesting suggestions and questions were also posed to be relayed to the college’s board. The lecture concluded with a leisurely gathering and dialogue with light snacks and refreshments.
ACT College was founded in 2025 to build a shared roof for Armenian talent on its home soil and serve as a symbol of unity for young Armenians from every region and background. It aims to create equal access to high-quality technological education for generations of Armenians. All classrooms, labs, and workshops are built and equipped by the college itself, and students are trained on industry-level computers and machinery so that everything they learn on campus may translate directly into real-world skills.
“Education is the cornerstone of our country’s future,” says Nshan Karayan, honorary board member of ACT College and its primary sponsor. “Every resource, every effort, and every investment should be directed toward empowering our youth through knowledge. No matter where an Armenian lives, it is our shared duty to restore the connection to our homeland and support the growth of future generations.”
The Gyumri Information Technologies Center (GITC) governs and operates the college. It works to uphold the highest educational standards and shape its programmes according to the demands of the times. Current teachable programmes include Computer Science, Engineering & Manufacturing, and Digital Art. All courses are currently campus-only; for other questions, please contact the college directly.
